The Challenge

Professional photographers often manage vast collections of photos from various devices, including smartphones, cameras, drones, local drives, and cloud storage. As the volume grows, finding specific images becomes a significant challenge, compounded by frequent travel and limited time for organization.

One end user, a professional photographer with over 120K images, faced this problem. Existing photo organization tools failed to provide the clarity and efficiency needed to search, explore, and manage such a large collection effectively.

Solution

I designed Carousel to simplify and streamline the photo organization process. The app offers an intuitive and user-friendly interface, addressing key pain points through:

• A Timeline — Browse photos by year and month.

• Search Features — Find specific images by date or location.

• Recent Highlights — A main panel showcasing the most recent uploads.

Extensive user research and testing informed every design decision, ensuring the solution was tailored to photographers’ needs. The result is an app that allows users to quickly locate and organize their photos without unnecessary complexity.

Design
