Tel Aviv Atonal
A Sonic & Visual Journey

Blending Berlin’s avant-garde inspiration with Tel Aviv’s vibrant creative energy

An annual festival where sonic and visual arts collide, transforming two distinct stages into immersive experiences.

Introduction

Tel Aviv Atonal is an annual festival celebrating sonic and visual art, set across two distinct stages. Inspired by the renowned Berlin Atonal, the festival brings a fresh perspective by embedding its experimental essence into Tel Aviv’s dynamic cultural landscape. The fusion of avant-garde soundscapes and cutting-edge visuals provides attendees with a transformative and immersive experience.

The Challenge

Adapting the essence of Berlin Atonal for a Tel Aviv audience required balancing the experimental nature of the original festival with the unique atmosphere and cultural backdrop of Tel Aviv. The design needed to reflect both the boldness of the Berlin aesthetic and the vibrant, eclectic spirit of Tel Aviv.

Design Concept

Typography & Aesthetics

The visuals take inspiration from Berlin Atonal’s minimal yet striking aesthetic, emphasizing bold sans-serif typography and sharp contrasts. The layout echoes industrial modernism, mirroring the raw energy of the festival’s sonic experimentation.

Color Palette

A monochromatic scheme, punctuated by electric accents, mirrors the immersive audio-visual experiences the festival is known for.

Visual Identity

Incorporating abstract patterns and motion-inspired graphics symbolizes the fusion of sound and visuals, while grounded elements nod to Tel Aviv’s urban grit.

Reflection

Tel Aviv Atonal successfully merges the avant-garde ethos of Berlin with the contemporary culture of Tel Aviv. The design captures the festival’s innovative spirit while respecting the roots of its inspiration. This project demonstrates the power of reinterpreting global ideas to fit local contexts.
